At the end of the 19th century, the Munich star architect chose the market on Lake Staffelsee as his “promised land” and shaped it with unmistakable creative power. Seidl built several country houses in the local style in his summer resort, created a landscape park and had the facades of the Untermarkt and Obermarkt painted in color: to this day an attraction for aesthetes from all over the world.
