It's almost that time again: The Murnau folk festival opens its gates. Visitors can look forward to lively music, convivial evenings in the beer tents, exciting rides and culinary delights.
For many decades, the folk festival has been one of the most popular events in the region , attracting numerous visitors to the fairgrounds in Kemmelpark every year. This year's festival is being organized by festival host Robert Schmidt from Straubing and Geiers Showmen's Enterprises from Munich. With years of experience, family-friendly attractions, and meticulous attention to detail, they ensure a unique folk festival atmosphere.
Program highlights of the Murnau folk festival
The festivities kick off on Friday, July 10th, with the traditional folk festival parade followed by the tapping of the first keg of beer. At 18 p.m., the Murnau Youth and Brass Band will perform a concert in front of the town hall before the parade proceeds to the festival grounds. From 19 p.m. onwards, the Seehausen Brass Band will provide a lively finale to the opening day.
On Saturday, July 11th, the show band "Harley Quinn" invites everyone to a lively party evening in the festival tent. Things get sporty on Sunday, July 12th, with the traditional folk festival boxing match hosted by TSV Peißenberg. Afterwards, the Eubachtaler musicians will take over and provide top-notch entertainment.
A special highlight awaits visitors on Monday, July 13: The legendary "Manyana" Monday party promises a festive atmosphere until the evening hours. A traditional folk festival evening will be provided by the Iffeldorf brass band on Tuesday, July 14. In addition, a public viewing will be offered.
Wednesday, July 15th, is all about families. The popular family afternoon offers at least a 30% discount on many rides and attractions. In the evening, the band Dreisam will provide a lively atmosphere in the festival tent.
On Thursday, July 16th, guests can look forward to the band "d' Wessobrunner". The festivities continue on Friday, July 17th, with the day for businesses and clubs, featuring musical entertainment by "Kzwoa".
Saturday, July 18th, is dedicated to Bavarian tradition: The traditional costume association and the Eglfing brass band will create an authentic folk festival atmosphere at the Bavarian evening. The grand finale on Sunday, July 19th, will feature the Murnau Youth and Brass Band again starting at noon, followed by the band Stoabachklang at 5 p.m.
Ten days of festival atmosphere
In addition to the diverse stage program, numerous rides draw visitors to the fairground. Whether Ferris wheel, bumper cars, or ghost train – fairgoers of all ages will find something to enjoy. The offerings are rounded out by game booths, prize booths, and other classic attractions.
Of course, culinary delights are not neglected. Traditional Bavarian beer tent fare is complemented by vegetarian and vegan options. Freshly tapped Augustiner beer from wooden barrels and Karg brewery wheat beer are also available. On the main days, the beer tent bar invites guests to enjoy a convivial end to the evening.
