Oases of peace in the countryside

When Walter von Molo's second wife Anne acquired property in Hechendorf and had a house built, the garden area was created between 1932 and 1934: the Molo Park. After the writer's death, the widow sold the more than four hectare property to the community in 1969, on the condition that the property continued to be used as a recreational and health resort. Visitors can still find the peace and relaxation they long for today. The writer, who died on October 27, 1958, was buried on his property, today's Molo Park. A gravestone there still reminds us of Walter von Molo.

Culture and nature are what you'll find in the park that extends directly in front of the Murnau culture and conference center. It not only offers you a breathtaking view of the Alpine panorama around the Zugspitze, but also current works by local sculptors and special cultural events. In the halls of the modern building as well as in the so-called mussel, the small music pavilion in the countryside , keep your finger on the pulse. And the alternating outdoor exhibitions offer you an insight into Murnau's artistic scene. You can enjoy the works of art and the Alpine panorama not only on the green lawn of the KulturPark, but also in the Auszeit restaurant, which will spoil you with culinary delights.

The architect Emanuel von Seidl designed a large green area around his villa: today's Seidl Park. It enchants with its stands of old, tall trees, a pond covered with water lilies and some monuments that are reminiscent of a bygone era. The municipality of Murnau acquired the park. Since then, the Förderkreis Murnauer Parklandschaft eV has set itself the task of preserving it and partially restoring it to its original condition: including the Hirschenplatz and the Friendship Hill, Emanuel von Seidl's favorite places.

Green nature experience garden with various plants.

Experiencing nature means observing it, seeing it with different eyes. You can do this in the Nature Experience Garden, near the shores of Lake Staffelsee. Surrounded by a small oak forest are flower meadows, beds and biotopes. There is a lot to discover here: the busy bee colonies, frogs and toads at the edge of the small pond as well as the birds of prey circling above the area. In addition, a herb garden and a berry terrace offer tasty variety. Snack on some of the fruit or bring something to your loved ones for a small donation. Because it's important to experience Mother Nature with all your senses. The Nature Experience Garden is open to everyone and can be easily reached on foot, by bike or by car. Since there are no opening times, the Nature Adventure Garden is always a worthwhile excursion destination. In addition to the Nature Experience Garden, you can also attend one of the courses offered there. The topics include: permaculture, herbalism, wilderness education, origin knowledge, rituals and potential development.
