Bodies of water in and around Murnau – fantastic lakeland
Glittering blue lakes and clear rivers – Murnau is surrounded by diverse bodies of water. Whether on land on the lakeshore or on water, the cool water around Murnau invites you to take part in numerous activities.
The beautiful lakeland can be conquered by swimming, rowing, sailing or surfing. The three lakes in the immediate vicinity: Staffelsee, Froschhauser See and Riegsee offer relaxation and leisure opportunities in every season.
You can comfortably board the Lake Staffelsee MS Seehausen sail. The panoramic deck offers a fantastic view of the Alpine chain - a boat trip that will be remembered for a long time. As one of the warmest bathing lakes in Bavaria, the Staffelsee in Murnau also attracts swimmers and water sports enthusiasts.
In the middle of a nature reserve, on Lake Froschhauser, peace and relaxation await you. The swimming lake is particularly enjoyable with a book and listening to the birds whistling. The third lake in the region, the Riegsee, is located in the middle of a rural landscape northeast of Murnau. There are also a number of leisure activities on offer here. The Riegsee is also one of the region's richest bodies of water. You can certainly try one of the magnificent specimens from the region's restaurateurs. The water of the Loisach flows a little faster than the lakes. The mountain river offers sports enthusiasts, excursionists and anglers a truly fantastic natural experience. Once winter has arrived, the cross-country ski trails on the banks of the Loisach lure cross-country skiers in their tracks.
