Dragon Stitch circular route

Right at the beginning, just half a kilometer from the starting point at the Murnau Culture and Conference Center, it is worth visiting the Münter House, the former home of the painter Gabriele Münter and her partner, the painter Wassily Kandinsky.

Continuing through an impressive avenue of trees - a detour along the way leads to the Lourdes Grotto, which is hidden in a shady gorge and invites you to pray - you soon have fantastic views from a ridge over the Murnauer Moos and the mountain ranges behind it, including Germany's highest, the Zugspitze. Just a short distance further, hikers can decide to visit the Georgskircherl, also known as “Ähndl”, the oldest church in the Staffelsee area, built in the 8th century, and stop off in the adjacent beer garden or in the nearby Alpenhof.

Continuing along the circular route, you reach the Asam point. This point connects the church towers of Ähndl, the church in Weichs and the church in Ohlstadt and the summit cross of Rauheck in a straight line. (www.asam-punkt.de)  Now we continue to the Drachenstich, a small waterfall and a romantic gorge, where, according to legend, the Murnau dragon is said to have eaten its many virgins. Over a small ridge you reach the Staffelsee with its seven islands, where the Murnau Bay offers many opportunities to end the day in a sporty and relaxing way.
