Located in the Bavarian Alpine foothills, the artist town of Murnau with its beautiful lake and moor landscapes, old farmhouses with fresco paintings and romantic old fishing villages forms the backdrop for our contemporary art program. The "Blue Land", as it is also called because of its perfect light, was once visited by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter. By presenting young and up-and-coming talents alongside top-class artists from our permanent collection, we want to revive this rich history.
